Pennsylvania Council on the Arts - Arts in Education Partner

PAEP designs, implements, manages, and provides financial support for arts residencies in schools and community sites throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. PAEP trains artists who teach 10-60 visual and performing arts-making sessions per residency with students in preK-12 classrooms and community sites and brokers relationships between artists and schools.

The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) is a state agency charged with the development and promotion of the arts in the Commonwealth. To accomplish its mission, the PCA encourages educational excellence through participation in the creative process in schools and educational settings. Study of the arts provides Pennsylvania’s youth with positive models for teamwork, project management and goal setting, along with opportunities for academic achievement and intellectual and emotional discovery.

Arts Residencies

The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), Arts in Education Division (AIE) provides funding for arts in education programs. The purpose of the AIE Division is to develop and support quality arts education programs in schools and community settings for all Pennsylvanians. The Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership (PAEP) was selected to partner with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts' Arts in Education Division in February 2004. As the PCA regional partner for the Philadelphia, southeastern Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, and Bucks counties, PAEP facilitates the process of selecting artists for inclusion in the Directory of Pennsylvania Artists in Education, publishes the directory, and sponsors arts residencies in school and community sites in which teaching artists integrate the arts with academic curricula.

Teacher Artist Partner Program – The TAP program sponsors 60 session residencies, a teacher/artist summer training institute, and on-going residency supervision by PAEP. PAEP participates in the design of the residency and coordinates the application process.

Long Term Residencies – The LTR program sponsors 60 session residencies. PAEP provides support for the design of the program, coordinates the application process, and oversees these residencies.

School District of Philadelphia

Arts Residencies – PAEP manages the fiscal and programmatic aspects of PCA-sponsored residencies for the School District of Philadelphia. These residencies integrate the arts with academic curricula. Please click on the application link below for an application.
